Relief Society Zoom Herb Class-Handouts and Resources

Hello Relief Society Sisters!! Here are some resources and Handouts I discussed in class. Feel free to email me with any questions machelle2439@gmail.com, or use the contact form on this page.

Handouts-Some Basics of Healing with Herbs-
This handout contains basic principles on healing with herbs that we probably won't go over specifically in class

Herbal Actions & Uses  - Herbs are categorized by their therapeutic action in the body. The very best way to become proficient in understanding and using herbs is to know the different therapeutic actions, and the best herbs in each category. Use this guide as a quick reference to the different categories and when to use them. This would be a good handout to put in your herb binder.

Quick Reference Chart: Herbal Actions  -NOT A COMPLETE LIST. This is the handout I use in class...It is not a complete list, just a quick reference that I use to teach from. Print before class #2.

PowerPoint I used in Class-Intro to Healing with Herbs, Part 1 and 2- (all in one PowerPoint)

Video: How to make tinctures (by our friends at Butterfly Expressions) Only 7 minutes long...easy peesy. She is making a recipe from the Butterfly Herbal book

Link to the book I recommended-Butterfly Miracles with Herbal Remedies-I love this book because it teaches about the therapeutic action of herbs, and the best herbs in each category, as well as having a section of GREAT formulas, which you can make using the recipe, purchase the dry herb pack already measured out to make yourself, or purchase the ready made tincture

🠊Need a bit more help knowing where to start in stocking your herbal medicine cabinet? HERE are my Go-To protocols for Cold and Flu

Herbal Files for Herb Binder-these files are from the write-ups I did each month when we did our bulk-buy herb group. The herbs featured are the best herbs to have and know how to use in an emergency. Print the files and put them in a binder so you have access to the info in a grid-down or emergency situation. The focus of the herb binder is on having about individual 40 herbs in your home, and knowing how to combine them to treat a wide variety of conditions. (Emergency prep, and to start using right now)

Ready to Learn More??-Here are two online classes from Centre of Excellence I highly recommend. It is produced in the UK, and the price is listed in British pounds. **every few months the classes go on sale for 29 pounds (about $50).  I strongly recommend purchasing the written materials. It is a spiral bound book you can take notes in, and is very handy for reference!!The program is online, and can be completed at your own pace, with lifetime access. These really are great herbal programs:

1) The Master Herbalist program is a great place to start, especially if you are just beginning. It covers material to about the same depth as the green Butterfly book I mentioned in class (see link on this page)

2) If you are a little more experienced, and thoroughly familiar with the contents of the green Butterfly book (or a similar basic herbal book), the Advanced Master Herbalist program might be a good place for you to start.

Additionally, Homegrown Herbalist and Butterfly Express offer classes that are very worthwhile! Homegrown Herbalist herb school is all online. It is the most comprehensive program I've listed here, and takes about a year to complete. New information is constantly being added, they offer Masters Seminars, local herb walks, etc. I highly recommend it, if you want to really dig in and become a practical herbalist. It is pricey ($799,but well worth it). They offer payment plans, and offer a 2 for 1 special, where you can split the cost with a friend. If you take this course, contact me, and I'll give you some very valuable tips as to how to create a reference book as you go, as this class doesn't come with written materials.

Butterfly Express has classes on herbs, homeopathy, essential oils and more, in person in Clifton, Idaho. They are very affordable, and are usually a series of weekend classes. Follow the link above for more details. These are also highly recommended.

Facebook Groups- I created a Facebook group called Dr. Mom: Empowering Yourself to Take Charge of Your Families Health as a place for people to ask questions, and for me to post my favorite natural healing tip & tricks, and share information. Here is a link to join the Facebook group. Every time new info is posted, I add it to a google doc, here.

There is also another group, called Herbal & Holistic Healing Buying Group. This was the group that grew to over 700 members, and where the infamous herbal binders were born. We learned about 2 or 3 herbs every month, and did a group buy on the herbs. The group buys stopped a few years ago, but I still post occasionally and share interesting herbal info on the page. Here is a link to the group
